Botox® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is the most popular cosmetic product/procedure in the world because of its efficacy, safety profile and relatively low cost. Botox is a purified protein neurotoxin that blocks the transmission of information from nerve cells to muscle cells. This action temporarily relaxes muscles such as those in the face. Over time, facial movements such as frowning and squinting, combined with environmental and genetic factors, form wrinkles on our faces. When neurotoxins are injected, the muscles become relaxed and the overlying skin line and wrinkles are smoothed. Clients treated with neurotoxins appear more relaxed, happy and younger looking. Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for the treatment of glabella lines, also called “the 11s”- the vertical lines in the lower mid-forehead- which create an angry look. Botox is equally often used on other facial wrinkles, however, such as the horizontal forehead lines and the radiating wrinkles from the corners of the eyes (Crow’s feet). It is one of the safest injectables and has an incredibly good safety record.

Previously, Botox Cosmetic had a monopoly on this market, but Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) is one of several competitors to hit the U.S. market. Like Botox, it is a botulinum toxin, just as effective but less expensive. For these reasons, Dysport is our neurotoxin of choice, but original Botox Cosmetic is also available, and a few patients prefer that despite the higher cost.

Cosmetic Filler Treatments with local anesthesia

30M | Single Juvederm Lip Treatment | .55 mL $400

30M | Single Juvederm Ultra 3 Treatment | 1 mL $600

30M | Single Radiesse Treatment | 1.5 mL $600

Juvéderm®: Juvéderm Ultra XC and Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC are types of injected dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are a non-surgical treatment where material is injected into the skin to fill and smooth facial wrinkles and folds. Fillers can also be used for volume replacement, bringing back a more youthful appearance of the aging face and even hands. Juvéderm is made with a smooth gel hyaluronic acid, a component found in our own skin. Because of this, pre-treatment allergy testing is not necessary with hyaluronic fillers.

Juvéderm is the only dermal hyaluronic acid filler on the market FDA approved to last up to one year from the time of initial treatment. The “XC” indicates that the local anesthetic lidocaine has been added to the gel to numb the treatment area within seconds, greatly improving clients’ comfort during the injections. And the Juvéderm Ultra XC is indicated for filling moderate lines and wrinkles while the Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is utilized for volumizing facial areas and filling deeper folds.

Clients should be counseled by their physician regarding how much Juvéderm should be used to fully correct their treatment areas. Like with all dermal fillers, some clients may need more than one syringe of Juvéderm to achieve the absolute best and satisfactory result they are looking for.

RADIESSE® Volumizing Filler is made of calcium hydroxylapatite. Therefore, it is different from most of the other fillers which are made of hyaluronic acid. It is the only filler to both immediately replenish lost volume and stimulate the production of your own natural collagen. Radiesse is truly unique in its ability to act as a scaffold under the skin, providing lift and stimulating the production of your own natural collagen. It is a perfect filler if you have significant volume loss and are looking for immediate volumizing with long-term results. In fact, when filled to optimal correction, you can expect Radiesse to last up to a year. And over time, as the Radiesse helps to stimulate your own collagen, you will notice that the Radiesse lasts longer and longer between injections.
